Leila is an amazing teacher, and in each class I learn a little bit more about how to read classical Persian literature. She expertly helps me understand texts that would otherwise feel intimidating and even impossible -- and in the process makes them fun and accessible.

Postdoctoral Researcher, Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies

Emma completed her PhD in South Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago in May 2020 and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies at the University of Bonn. Her current book project is entitled “Unequal Intimacies: Gender, Slavery and Servitude in the Mughal World.”
